Chocolate Ganache

Ganache is a French word for glaze and refers to a smooth mixture of chocolate and cream. It gives a shiny and smooth finish when used to cover a cake with it. The taste is also awesome and depends on the quality of chocolate used.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 3/4 cup Heavy whipping crea
  • 2 tbsp unsalted Butter

Method
  1. Heat Cream and Butter in a pan over medium heat and bring it to a boil.
  2. Spread the Chocolate Chips in a bowl and pour the hot mixture over the chocolate chips. Allow it to stand for a few minutes without stirring.
  3. Then stir gently with a spoon as you do not want air bubbles in the ganache.

Suggestions / Notes
  1. To cover a cake, pour spoonfuls of the Ganache in the center of the cake and then spread it quickly around the cake and sides. After a first coating refrigerate the cake for 15 min and then add the remaining ganache the same way.
  2. If you are using White Chocolate Chips, then initially the Ganache will look transparent but when you pour it on the cake, and allow it to cool, it will turn white.
